Total Capital successfully exits OUTCO to a secondary buyout funded by Perwyn

Total Capital Partners (“Total Capital”), is delighted to announce its exit from OUTCO, the UK’s leading outdoor estate compliance and maintenance specialist.

Total Capital’s single-source patient capital model provides businesses with the right capital structure to facilitate growth, delivering its investors a superior risk-adjusted return.  Different to traditional private equity funds, Total Capital provides all the capital needed by a business, which is a highly appropriate way to fund SMEs, relying on operational improvements rather than financial engineering to deliver returns to investors.

Total Capital invested in OUTCO (formerly known as GRITIT – the tech-enabled, multi-award-winning Winter Gritting Company) in 2018, partnering with founder-entrepreneur Jason Petsch to scale and diversify the business.

Total Capital has supported the business strategy to diversify OUTCO’s service offering into the wider commercial asset maintenance space to gain market share and generate market-leading margins.  Since Total Capital’s initial investment, Outco has made five acquisitions and trebled in size. These bolt-on acquisitions have diversified the service offering to clients, materially enhancing the quality of earnings, and the scale and financial performance of the business.

Operating in a £5bn market, OUTCO’s unique combined service offering provides a new way for customers to manage outdoor assets by bringing together multiple services, including asset maintenance and grounds and environmental maintenance to ensure all-round asset and estate safety, compliance and commercial efficiency.

This exit for Total Capital sees the business being backed in a secondary management buyout by larger private equity investor, Perwyn, who are backing the Founder team to continue the growth journey.

Natalie Eastham, Managing Partner of Total Capital, commented: “We would like to thank the OUTCO team, led by Jason Petsch, for their exceptional work over our investment period. It has been a pleasure to partner with the outstanding team leading this high-growth business, one that has been at the forefront of technology development in its sector.

“We have worked in partnership with them to diversify OUTCO’s service offering, enhance its technological capabilities and pursue a highly effective acquisition strategy.  The business has seen incredibly strong financial performance, and we have no doubt that OUTCO will continue to lead in its sector as it starts its next phase of growth.”

Jason Petsch, CEO and Founder of OUTCO commented:

“Total Capital Partners has been supportive of our recent plans as we have rapidly scaled the business. OUTCO is now ideally positioned to become the go-to provider in the outdoor facilities management sector. By offering a unified, data-driven service model, OUTCO will continue to enhance asset lifecycle management, improve compliance, and reduce maintenance complexity, delivering real value to clients across the UK.”
