EXPANSION FOR TOTAL CAPITAL PARTNERS IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND FOLLOWING APPOINTMENT OF NEW PARTNER

Total Capital looks to increase its provision of single source funding for SME businesses in the North of England

28th November 2016 – Total Capital Partners (“Total Capital”), an independent firm that specialises in providing combined equity and debt funding for small and medium-sized businesses in the UK, today announced the appointment of Mark Buttler as a Partner. Mark will be based in Leeds and will be responsible for deal origination across the North of England, with specific focus on Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and Liverpool. This brings Total Capital’s partner count to four.

Mark was previously a Director with Key Capital Partners where he spent eight years, and successfully led and co-led a number of investments, helping to establish that business in the North of England. Most recently, Mark led Investec Bank’s Growth & Acquisition Finance team in the North of England, providing debt alongside minority equity financing solutions for SMEs. This experience closely aligns with Total Capital’s differentiated approach to funding SMEs, through which the total debt and equity requirements are provided in any investment.

This announcement follows  Total Capital’s successful exit from Lancashire based Arthouse, one of  the largest suppliers of wall coverings and home decoration products. The exit in  October  2015 marked the close of Total Capital Partners’ 2006 fund, which delivered an overall return of 1.9x.

Natalie Eastham, a founding Partner of Total Capital, commented:

“We are experiencing a very positive reaction from investors who are attracted to the alternative approach that we offer to the typical leveraged equity model. On account of this and in anticipation of increasing investment activity, we have taken the decision that the time is right to expand our team and I am delighted to welcome Mark Buttler as a Partner. His experience of successfully combining debt and equity financing aligns well with our single source approach, which offers small and mid sized businesses enhanced flexibility and the optimum financing structure for their needs”.

Mark Buttler, Partner at Total Capital, commented:

“I am very pleased to be joining the Total Capital team and look forward to capitalising on the very significant opportunity to back established SME businesses in the North of England with single source financing. For many, this will be the first time that they work with an institutional investor and I particularly look forward to working closely with management teams to develop and shape businesses as they grow.”
